Trudy's Permanent Jewelry FAQ

What is permanent jewelry?

At Trudy's Hallmark, permanent jewelry refers to jewelry pieces that are welded closed, offering a permanent alternative to traditional jewelry with clasp closures. This ensures convenience and eliminates the hassle of taking the jewelry on and off.

Is permanent jewelry safe?

Absolutely! Our permanent jewelry is not only a painless but also a safe alternative to other forms of body art. It only takes a few painless moments to get a permanent bracelet, and the welding tools don't touch your skin. To provide added assurance during the welding process, a piece of leather will be placed between the chain and your skin, ensuring a comfortable experience.

What are the benefits of permanent jewelry?

Convenience: Permanent jewelry eliminates the need for clasp closures, providing a hassle-free experience. You can enjoy wearing your jewelry without worrying about it coming undone or getting lost.

Security: With its secure attachment, permanent jewelry gives you peace of mind. Whether you're active or work in a demanding environment, you can trust that your jewelry will stay in place.

Style: Permanent jewelry is not only functional but also stylish. It adds a touch of elegance to any outfit and can be dressed up or down for various occasions. It's a versatile accessory that complements your personal style effortlessly.

How long does permanent jewelry last?

Permanent jewelry is designed to last for as long as you desire, withstanding normal wear and tear effortlessly. However, like any jewelry, it is subject to wear and tear, especially in extreme cases. It's important to note that while our permanent jewelry is durable, it isn't indestructible. While we ensure the durability of our jewelry, Trudy's Hallmark is not responsible for lost chains or damages caused by mishandling.

What type of chain do you use?

At Trudy's Hallmark, we proudly use 14K gold-filled jewelry for our permanent pieces. Occasionally, we may use silver, but keep in mind that silver is more prone to tarnishing.

What are the advantages of 14K gold-filled jewelry?

Gold-filled jewelry offers the beauty and benefits of solid gold at a more affordable price. By legal definition, gold-filled jewelry must include a minimum of 1/20th (5%) solid gold by weight. It features a thick layer of gold bonded to a base metal core, making it durable, resistant to tarnish, and capable of maintaining its shine over time—perfect for everyday wear! Here are the pros of gold-filled jewelry:

  • The gold won't rub off: Enjoy long-lasting shine without worry.
  • It's waterproof and tarnish-resistant: Perfect for all your adventures.
  • It's safe for sensitive skin: Gentle and hypoallergenic.
  • It's durable: Built to withstand daily wear and tear.
  • It's cheaper than solid gold: Get the luxury look without the high price tag.
  • It's easy to care for: Minimal maintenance required.
  • It resembles solid gold: Achieve the same elegant appearance.
Do you only do bracelets?

We offer a variety of options, including bracelets, anklets, and necklaces. We don't provide rings due to the nature of finger swelling. Our goal is to ensure your jewelry is comfortable and lasts for all of life's special moments.

Can I wear it in the shower, pool, ocean, etc?

Of course! That's the fun of jewelry you never have to take off. Our chains are designed to go through all of life’s fun adventures with you.

Sterling styles can oxidize after exposure to pools or hot tubs that aren't properly balanced. A gentle wipe with a polishing cloth, or a quick scrub with a baking soda and water paste and a soft brush, is all you need to restore that original sterling shine.

Is there a minimum age requirement to receive permanent jewelry?

To ensure the best experience and prevent issues like outgrowing bracelets, we have a minimum age requirement for receiving permanent jewelry. We do not place permanent bracelets on anyone under the age of 13. For all minors under the age of 18, parental consent is required, and the parent or guardian must be present during the welding process. This ensures that every experience with Trudy's Hallmark is safe, enjoyable, and memorable for our young customers and their families.

Who should not get permanent jewelry?

Individuals with pacemakers should avoid permanent jewelry due to the welding process, which may interfere with their medical device. Additionally, while allergies to solid gold, sterling silver, and gold fill are rare, individuals with known allergies to these materials should also refrain from getting permanent jewelry.

What if my permanent bracelet breaks or falls off?

We understand that accidents can happen. That's why we offer a solution to keep your permanent jewelry looking its best. During our next pop-up visit to your nearest location, we can provide rewelding services for any permanent jewelry, whether it's from our collection or another retailer. Our rewelding fee is $25, and we can reweld as long as the break is on the jump ring, which is the metal circle used to connect and weld the bracelet. Please note, we do not replace, reimburse or issue refunds for lost chains. Chains can come undone for a variety of reasons, including mishandling or getting caught in a piece of clothing or another object.

What is the return policy?

Due to the personalized nature of our custom permanent jewelry styles, all sales are final.

How do I take care of permanent jewelry?

To care for your pieces, gently clean them with water and mild soap, then dry with a soft cloth (eyeglass cloths work great!). If your jewelry comes into contact with lotions, sunscreen, or perfumes, rinse it off immediately—this is especially important for gold-filled chains with tiny nooks and crannies. You can also give your jewelry a a gentle scrub with blue Dawn dish soap, or a baking soda/water paste and soft brush to remove any product build up that may accumulate.
